Free choice time!
Students have been doing some really creative things during free choice time! Free choice time is for students who have completed their assigned art work for the day. Students are able to choose what they work on during the remaining time in art class. Students can draw or color, take an activity/coloring sheet, build structures with blocks, draw or read from art books, or use other art materials that are available that day. This week, Bendaroos were added as a new free choice option.
4th grade Monochromatic Cubism Portraits
Bateman Elementary has a new Kindergarten - 4th grade art room located on the first floor, directly left of the auditorium! It is a work in progress, but has definitely come a long way from what it was. Room 100 has lots of natural light, and a large entrance hallway with lots of storage space! We are lucky enough to have a Promethean board with SmartBoard technology, which is very useful in demonstrating drawing techniques to students. I am in the midst of writing a classroom project request via Donors Choose, in hopes of soon acquiring a new document camera. The document camera is a wonderful teaching tool in which teachers can draw, model, or demonstrate a skill to students and it is projected as live video feed onto the smart board. I have used a document camera in the past, and it produces wonderful student results! Check back soon for updates on our Donors Choose grant!
