2nd Grade Art with Ms. Tambone
Dot Monsters
Dot Monsters nurture imagination and encourage creative thinking and problem solving. Students first closed their eyes and placed 30 dots on their paper. Afterward, they used a ruler to connect their dots. From there, they used their imagination to come up with their own monsters! Students added color to their dot monsters using oil pastel and watercolor.

Silhouette Trees and Leaf Collages
Students created leaf collages by tracing real leaves onto tissue paper. Once cut out, the leaves were glued down, making sure to overlap the leaves to create new colors. After the collage component was finished, students learned about silhouettes and used a simple printmaking technique with india ink and cardboard pieces to create their own silhouette trees onto the collage.

Mondrian Paintings
This is a second grade lesson on the artist Piet Mondrian. I began with a short power point on the artist and his work-focusing on his use of the Primary colors and abstract design. We pasted pre-cut strips of black construction paper on top of our pencil lines- then trimmed the edges of the strips to line up with the paper.
